MidCentral are offering Registered Midwife positions at Kōhungahunga  Maternity Unit which is a 4 bedded unit located at Horowhenua Health Centre in Levin, approximately 50 km south of Palmerston North. We are sole charge, midwifery led and dedicated to labour and postnatal stays. Whilst working in partnership with their LMC, our Midwives provide postnatal care for women of our communities, plus intrapartum support to LMCs. We aspire to having a workforce reflective of the community we serve achieving equitable outcomes for all.

We are looking for enthusiastic Registered Midwives with a current APC willing to work rostered rotating duties covering 24 hours a day/7 days per week. Full time or part time roles are available.

Kōhungahunga Maternity Unit is BFHI accredited, and our Midwives are passionate about supporting women and whānau during this time.

New Graduate Midwives who wish to work in primary care are welcome to apply.  We would work together to develop an individualised plan to support you gain confidence to transition to sole charge once you have completed your first year of practice.

ASSORTED MIDWIVES PALMERSTON NORTH BASED

The Opportunity

We welcome applications from suitably qualified and experienced midwives to work in a variety of settings including delivery suite, maternity ward (ante and postnatal), outpatients day unit and community. We are a progressive unit and have been working on developing specialist roles such as Diabetes Midwife and Long Acting Reversible Contraceptive (LARC) training for midwives. Recent practice change initiatives include introducing a new Induction of Labour Protocol.  Our midwives work in partnership with women and their families/whanau, collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver effective care. 

Hours of work will be up to full time working rostered, rotating shifts. Permanent and temporary positions.

If you have limited availability and are able to work only certain days or shifts in a preferred area then a casual position may be more beneficial to you.  We are able to provide the flexibility of a casual contract with an added new initiative of enabling shifts to be booked weeks in advance.

These positions will be supported by a comprehensive orientation and ongoing Midwifery Educator support.
