Palmerston North Regional Hospital offers a wide range of opportunities for all Medical Registrars, as follows:

  • General Medicine

  • Acute Medicine

  • Cardiology

  • Respiratory

  • Renal

  • Neurology

  • Acute Geriatric

  • Geriatric Medicine – basic and approved for 12 mths advanced training

  • Gastroenterology (approved for advanced training)

  • Haematology

  • Medical Oncology

  • Potential for a Infection Disease run from 2024

There are also opportunities to do both an ICU and an Emergency Medicine rotation.

It is renowned for its mountain bike park, river walks, large number of restaurants and cafes, plus easy access to surf beaches and the Ruahine and Tararua mountains.
