#MidCentralStaffMonday

Lindsay Bedser is a Lead Clinical Respiratory Physiologist at Palmerston North Hospital. Her role involves managing the operations of our Pulmonary Function Testing Laboratory, ensuring that all the tests performed meet high quality and equipment calibration standards, as per international guidelines. She is also responsible for mentoring her team members in their professional journeys and helping them with various education and research opportunities.

“A career as a physiologist is a well-rounded pathway within the healthcare sector. You can have great career progression and a range of research opportunities in this field, if you enjoy helping people, are always willing to learn and tech-savvy.”

Lindsay grew up in South Africa and moved here to complete her studies in respiratory physiology at University of Otago. She started working with us in 2015 and absolutely loves her job.

“I always knew I wanted to work within the healthcare sector. The field allows me to support people within our community – something that is super important to me. Life as a physiologist has been amazing – I get to help our patients with the luxury of set work hours. An absolute win-win!”

Outside of work, Lindsay loves spending time in the great outdoors, either running or tramping. She is also a sports enthusiast and is currently enjoying playing both squash and hockey. In her spare time, you might spot her doing some training with her German Pointer.

Recently, Lindsay and her team members were awarded with Te Ngākau Tapatahi Award - Champion and Collaboration and Integration: Team or Service for their exemplary contribution towards patient care.

Amazing mahi Lindsay – thank you for everything you do!
