Camille Zarate - Associate Charge Nurse

#MidCentralStaffMonday

Camille Zarate is an Associate Charge Nurse in Medical Assessment & Planning Unit (MAPU) at Palmerston North Hospital. Her role involves the facilitation of patients from the point they arrive in the Emergency Department (ED), until their admission into the appropriate ward. She also has the opportunity to mentor new nurses in her team, helping them on their journey to become successful healthcare professionals.

“I really like helping and caring for our patients. It is so fulfilling to see them recovering and smiling. Also, I really feel for their whānau. It is indeed a very stressful situation when they visit the hospital with their loved ones. I feel so glad to support them in such times.”

Camille is passionate about her job and thrives on overcoming any obstacles that come her way. She is always looking to provide the best possible quality of care for her patients.

“Nursing is my meant to be. It was not my first choice when I was applying for my graduation but there were a series of events and cutting a long story short here, I am! There has been no looking back since then and I’ve absolutely enjoyed my journey as a Nurse.”

Outside of work, Camille is a nature lover who likes to unwind by the river on her days off. She also cherishes her friends, who are a found family for her.

Thanks for all your awesome mahi Camille!
